Friday 27th October, 1pm Royal Festival Hall
Jamie Hewlett unveils an exhibition of Gorillaz artwork on the hoardings around the Royal Festival Hall tomorrow at 1pm, followed by the opening of an 'impromptu' pop-up shop selling limited special editions of the Gorillaz’ autobiography Rise of the Ogre. Open for strictly one day only!
"This exhibition really is a truly wonderful coming together between graphical imagery, art and er... well, what looks to be like some sort of temporary protective wooden coverings" - Murdoc Niccals, bass player and mastermind of Gorillaz

simple & small B&W posters plastered along the south bank.
The artwork is on the hoarding all around the Royal festival hall.
shop was good. All a bit weird queueing up for something that (for the first 10mins) we didn't actually know what it was, how limited, how much etc. But all became clear quite soon.
As far as I can tell it was the first edition, with a stamped (27.10.2006) library card-style bookmark on the inside page.... 750 copies available I heard. £25 (which is the RRP - already £15 on amazon though for the normal version...). I walked past the shop again about 4pm and looked like at least 100 copies were left (prob more - I only glanced)
Limited to 2 per customer.
Oh, and there was a (free) raffle ticket chance to win some original artwork.
And lots of artwork on the walls of the shop.....

£15 on amazon and handily qualifies for free postage.... by the by, it's a cracking book, and anyone who can get to London should take a wander around the Royal festical hall to see the hoardings. they look mint. can't miss it - concrete lump that isn't open until feb..... by waterloo bridge / hungerford footbridges... the hoardings are all along the level where the entrances used to be, and there are aslo some on the 'under the bridge' bit. www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=51.5059&lon=-0.1176&scale=5000&icon=x up until Feb .... come rain and shine
